HEARTOLOGY
No man, they say, is an island,
but it seems to make good sense.
Surrounded by the rolling seas,
you don't even need a fence.
And surely it's far better
than a nation landlocked,
caught betwixt any number
of hard places and rocks.
Not to mention a peninsula,
bordered by a jealous lover,
or worse still, an isthmus,
bridging two greater others.
But what of an archipelago,
part of a small ensemble cast:
a significant other, children,
a friend or two,
a union made to last?
